Ear training: guess notes and intervals
A good ear is what separates mechanical playing from real musicianship — and it is entirely trainable. The Listen tab on note.scala.vn offers two classic ear-training exercises, using samples recorded from real guitar and piano instead of dry MIDI tones.
Two practice modes
- Guess the note: one note plays, you name it. Start with a narrow range and widen it as your ear adapts.
- Guess the interval: two notes play, you name the interval between them — up to a limit you choose. Interval recognition is the foundation for hearing melodies and chords.
Both modes let you adjust range and difficulty, and every answer feeds the Progress page so you can watch your ear improve over time. You can replay each question as often as you need, and instant feedback shows the correct answer so every miss still teaches you something. No instrument needed — just headphones and a few minutes a day, right in your browser, completely free.
